Summary

Yasir Gozu, MD, is a general surgeon who has worked exclusively in proctology (anorectal disease) for over 20 years. He focuses on non-surgical laser treatments for hemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, and pilonidal sinus, with more than 10,000 laser procedures performed to date. He sees patients at Avrupa Cerrahi in Besiktas Levent. Appointments: 444 8 623.

I wrote this page for patients who search for "proctologist in Istanbul" and land here — because I know the concerns behind that search: an embarrassing complaint, a postponed exam, and the question "who can I trust?" Let me introduce myself; you decide.

Who am I?

My medical education began in Giresun; I graduated from Eskisehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine. After completing my general surgery specialization, I trained extensively in the demanding surgical practice of Istanbul Haseki Training and Research Hospital. In 2011 I founded Avrupa Cerrahi, and since then I've dedicated my entire practice to a single field: proctology.

Why a single field? Because anorectal disease isn't something you should treat as an occasional side interest. A hand that has performed the same operation hundreds of times sees things a hand that does it a few times a year simply doesn't. If I can confidently apply non-surgical methods today for hemorrhoids, fistula, and pilonidal sinus, it's because of that accumulated repetition — more than 10,000 laser treatments to date.

What do I believe in?

Three simple principles. First: the best operation is the one you don't need. I won't recommend classic surgery for a condition that can be resolved with incisionless laser treatment in a suitable case. Second: an honest number beats a shiny promise. I state success rates the way the literature reports them, not the way a salesperson would. Third: privacy is part of the treatment. We discuss these conditions every day in my practice; there's nothing here that should embarrass you.

What conditions do I treat?

Hemorrhoids — treated with same-day laser procedures in most stages now. Anal fistula — incisionless closure with FiLaC laser in suitable cases. Anal fissure — medication first, laser if needed. Pilonidal sinus — non-surgical approaches involving laser hair removal. Alongside these, I also treat perianal abscess, genital warts, and hidradenitis suppurativa. I also perform colonoscopy and endoscopy myself for patients who need further diagnostic work-up.

What happens at the first visit?

We start with a five-to-ten-minute conversation: your complaint, how long it's been going on, your history. Then a brief, gentle exam — no preparation, enema, or fasting required. At the end of the exam I give you two things: a clear diagnosis and a written plan. If a procedure is needed, you'll learn that same day when, with which method, and at what cost. I explained why I don't quote prices over the phone here: I don't put a number on a condition I haven't examined.

Coming from out of town?

A significant number of my patients come from outside Istanbul, and some from abroad. In suitable cases, we schedule the exam and treatment for the same day; the fact that laser procedures are outpatient makes this possible. Describe your situation by phone before you travel, and let's build the plan together.

Yes, in suitable cases — especially since laser procedures are outpatient, the exam and treatment can fit into the same day. The decision is made based on the exam findings.
